A lot of people shortchange themselves in this aspect of getting their livelihood back into order. People that have had jobs or are looking for jobs need to assess themselves and know what they can offer a company.
Sure these are tough times, but then even with the economy booming times can be tough too. What do I mean? I mean you need to know what type of answers to give potential employers when you finally land that interview.You need to know how to come across with your credentials so that you can be perceived as an asset to the company.
How are you going to do that when the inevitable questions come like, “Tell me about yourself?” or “What type of work experience do you have in this field?”
Taking the mindset that when you apply that you are at least going to get an interview and concentrating on these interview questions will greatly enhance yourself and give a paradigm shift in your thinking of landing a job. You’ll change your tune from help me find a job to help me to give the right answers will eventually be the key to your success.
The neat thing about having the answers to the questions that I’m about to give can be situated to any field of endeavor. So because they are universal in nature you won’t be spending time and energy just for one job interview. You can apply the principles in all types of interviews. Sure you may not know the specifics of the actual job but if the motivation is there and the interviewer can see that you’ll have a heads up on anyone else being interviewed.
Here’s a few questions to help you understand what you need to know.
Tell me about yourself?
Now don’t go into what your hobbies and interests are right off the bat. These people want to know how proactive you are in life and rally want to know about your accomplishments. What have you done in the past that has improved productivity is really a great start and gets the momentum going for a good feeling interview on both sides of the desk.
Once you highlight the points of interest that you’ve done in the past then briefly touch on your hobbies and interest but very briefly and to the point.
Describe yourself in a work environment.
This is a question with a double edge sword to it. The interviewer is probing on whether or not you are a team player. The answer to this question will probably be the turning point in your interview. So make sure that you lay out how much of a team player you are. And you need to be a team player in this day and age to get anywhere.
Especially if you were the lead or project manager of a high profile that lead to the success of something that you can feel proud of.
Knowing the answers to these type of questions will definitely improve your lot in life when you ask “Help me find a job”.
