So you’ve been through the interview process and are awaiting your results. Well you can be a bit more thorough than you think you are. In fact you can probably improve your odds of being hired or at least know that you’re being hired by asking a few key questions during the interview.Being proactive and strategic in asking these questions needs to have self confidence and diplomatic at the same time. It will take practice but you will soon become an expert at it.
At the appropriate time during the interview you will need to ask at least these two questions to understand the hiring process of that particular company.
You need to ask if second interviews are part of the protocol hiring process and what time frame does the employer have in hiring someone for the position.
Asking these questions at the appropriate in a frame of self confidence and acting inquisitive and enthusiastic instead of desperate is one of the most important features that you can have.
Without coming across strong and desperate longing for a job is needed to come across as confident.
Right after the interview whether or not you hear from them you need to send up following thank you cards. This exhibits courtesy and politeness to your prospective employer. This little gesture can go a long ways in the network department as well.
Knowing the names of the people that allowed to get you as far as the interview process also helps because you can reference them by first name as your contacts when you leave notes.
You will need to do a followup telephone call within a week or so to see if a decision has been made on the position that you applied for. This phone call will also help you solidify your position and have good will through your contacts.
If you don’t get the position keep your Rolodex handy with the contacts you have made because you never know when they will be looking for you in the future because of the presentation you made to them during the interview.
